  1. Hold a contest to name your upcoming CD. Give the winner a free autographed copy of the CD, plus a copy of the CD cover mounted on a plaque that they can display.
  2. Have business card drawings (or have them fill out a slip of paper) for a free CD or merchandise at your shows, with the understanding that those who give you a card will be added to your mailing list.
  3. Play acoustically in a park or some other open place with a lot of foot traffic (as long as it is legal and/or you have permission) to promote your show that night or weekend. Be sure you have flyers to hand out.
  4. Whenever possible, donate a performance at a local nonprofit (the YMCA is perfect) in the cities you’re scheduled to perform in. Even one acoustic afternoon set can draw people to your paid gig, and will often generate great publicity for you.
  5. Write songs about your most loyal fans. Many people will go the extra mile for you (promotion wise) to earn the right to have a song written about them!
