Why Do You Have The Gift Of Music?

I believe that everyone has a calling in life. Many off us have been blessed with musical talent and know without a shadow of a doubt that music is that calling. However, I would like to challenge you to figure out exactly why you have this precious gift. What is it that you are supposed to do with your talent? The possibilities are endless.

Do you realize that the impact that you can have on people, either locally or across the globe, is enormous. You can change lives one by one by singing in nursing homes, or in mass by writing or singing a hit song. You may be performing somewhere just to reach one person in the audience, or to have a profound effect on the entire crowd. You can write and sing songs that lift and cheer people up, help them get through a crisis, bring back fond memories, help them forget their challenges for a little while or help them see clearly during a dark time in their lives. On the flip side, you can also make an audience sad, make them angry, make them cry, impart fear in them or even make them hateful. You can take them on a vibrant roller coaster ride of up and down emotions, or finish your gig without having any impact at all.

It is your choice. How will your audience feel when then the show is over? What will they remember you for? What will they take home with them? I hope you realize that very few people have this kind of power and influence over so many others, even when they are unknown. It is an awesome responsibility!

I fear that many of us never dig deep enough into our souls to discover our true destination, and so we sing or write our songs without a real passion or purpose behind them. Doing so seldom if ever brings our true talent to the forefront. Instead, we end up simply blending into the woodwork with the millions of other talented but aimless musicians and singers around the world.

What do you choose to do with your talent? Will you be someone who stirs emotions and/or gets people thinking, or will you just be a commonplace copycat? Will you reach out to touch hearts, or just to shake hands? Are you willing to wear your emotions on your sleeve so that others know that they are not alone in their fear or pain? You have been given the power. What you decide to do with it will make a huge difference not only in your financial success, but also in your self-pride, your feeling of accomplishment, and the piece of mind that comes with knowing that you honestly followed your calling!
