For many years, having your own music videos was a luxury. Nowadays, it has become a ncessity for indie bands. Here are some of the reasons why you should have at least one video (preferably a live video). Only record a conceptual video if the budget allows!

- Entertainment buyers want to see you, not just hear your CD. They know that you can doctor your sound in the recording studio.
- Your videos, if done right, can create a buzz on YouTube and Facebook, blogs and other social mediums. Make them interesting, with great sound. The latest lead singer of Journey got the job because a bandmember saw his video online.
- It sets you a cut above everyone else who doesn’t have one or who has a bad one. A good video legitimizes you.
- It can sell your songs as much if not more than the audio recording. Think of all of the songs whose great videos enhabced the record sales.
- It gives you a fighting chance against those acts that have videos. If you want to play in the big leagues, you need the right tools.
- It can establish or enhance your brand identity. Let people know what your live show looks like, how you move an audience, what you stand for etc,
- It is an indicator that you are professional and serious. Many booking agents, managers etc. won’t consider working with a band that doesn’t have a video to use for marketing.
- A good enough video can be featured on TV.
- A good video can launch your career!
- Fans get to see another side of you.
