The more popular you become the more influence you will have over others. Here are some ways to leverage that influence.

  • You can use your good name to raise awareness for a cause that you believe in. You might write and record a song about it or even just add a link to a music video.
  • You can rally people around a nonprofit organization to raise money for it. This could range from performing a benefit concert or placing an ad and a donate button on your website.
  • You can record an audio or video public service announcement for an organization you believe in.
  • You might hold informal gatherings or meet and greets, free or paid, for any reason or none at all.
  • You can help another artist by promoting him or her to your fanbase. Everyone needs a break!
  • You can coach other artists so they don’t make the same mistakes you did.
  • You can help others by teaching what you know. This could range from giving vocal or instrumental lessons to recording informational videos and putting them on YouTube.
  • You can offer to perform live or give presentations at schools. This is great to do on the road.
  • You can turn a song or idea you have into a book, play or screenplay knowing your fans will buy or support it.
  • You can honor people who deserve it. You can do this at a show, on your website, in your blog, in a song or just on your social networks.
  • You can use your influence to support a political candidate.
  • You can use your influence to push for a piece or amendment to legislation.
  • You can start a blog about a topic that is dear to you knowing you will have instant readers.
  • Recruit volunteers for events and organizations that need them.

Remember to use your influence wisely and for good. It is the most powerful way to earn the respect and trust of people from all walks of life!
