I know this title sounds boring and tedious, especially if you are ultra-creative. But I promise you that nothing is going to change for you over the next year if you’re not making those plans now and setting them in motion. Instead, you will be sitting in your house reading a similar article from this same newsletter 12 months from now, wondering again why the miracle you’ve been praying for just hasn’t happened.[private_freebie]
Here is the problem. If you’re more of a ‘spontaneous, roll with the flow’ kinda person, you run the risk of the flow going in the opposite direction from where you want to heading, and carrying you there quickly!
So I am going to try to make this as painless as possible. Just finish the statements honestly for every milestone that you want to reach over the next 12 months. Sample milestones can include writing a certain amount of songs, getting a specific number of gigs, making a specific amount of profit from music, getting a song cut, recording a CD, getting a specific gig (e.g. demo singer, drummer in a full-time touring band, put your own band together etc.). List as many milestones as you want to set. Repeat this for personal goals as well.
Milestone: ________________________
- My progress towards this in the past year has been:
- The things that have stopped me from achieving it before now are:
- In order to reach this milestone, I need to do the following (be specific and realistic):
- I will accomplish this milestone by this date:
If you take this even semi-seriously, the worse that can happen is that this will force you to think seriously about what you’re doing, where you’re gong, and how you are going to get where you want to be. The best thing that could happen is that you take this several steps further and really develop an action plan for each goal that you have. And if you do nothing, well, I’ll know where to find you this time again next year.
